The security researcher known as Nightmare Eclipse, also referred to as Chaotic Eclipse, has released a new proof-of-concept exploit targeting an endpoint security product. According to SecurityWeek, the latest disclosure focuses on a privilege escalation vulnerability affecting Kaspersky Endpoint Security, a widely deployed enterprise defense platform. The newly released exploit has been designated under the name HardBreacher.
This public disclosure follows a pattern of recent activity by the same researcher, who has previously published proof-of-concept code for multiple vulnerabilities affecting Windows and Microsoft Defender components. The researcher began releasing zero-day disclosures after expressing frustration with vendor vulnerability reporting workflows. While many of these releases remained restricted to proof-of-concept stages, certain prior exploits were eventually adopted by threat actors for in-the-wild campaigns. Consequently, security teams monitor these drops closely to assess potential downstream risks.
Technical Analysis of the HardBreacher Exploit

When successfully executed, the exploit disrupts the target application’s user interface process. The researcher observed that a successful execution destabilises the host operating system significantly, creating severe reliability issues across local system processes.
